Many people are a bit nervous about seeing a new dentist or making an appointment when they haven’t been to a dentist for a while. We’d like to make it easy for you!
Making an Appointment
If you’re in the Fort Smith area and looking for a dentist, you can either call our office at 479-452-1738 or use our online Contact Form to set up an appointment, whichever you prefer!
To save you some time and anxiety at your first visit, we have two forms (Patient Registration and Medical History Form) that you can print now to fill out ahead of time in the comfort of your own home and bring with you.
What Happens at Your First Visit
X-rays
Typically, your first visit will include X-rays using the newer, safer digital radiography, which will allow us to examine your teeth and their supporting structures, both upper and lower jaws, and check for tooth decay.
Discussion & Review of Your History and Medications
We will also review your medical and dental histories and discuss any medication you are taking, whether prescription or over-the-counter products. All of this information helps us determine the safest and most effective treatment for you.
Professional Cleaning & Health Screen
One of our friendly and experienced Registered Dental Hygienists will give your teeth a thorough professional cleaning during your visit, removing any plaque buildup with manual scalers or an ultrasonic machine, and may polish the surfaces with a mild compound.
She will also screen for precancerous changes and check your oral tissues for lumps, masses, growths, red or white patches, or recurring sore areas. This is included with every check-up appointment.
And she will check your teeth with a Diagnodent (decay-detecting laser), which can detect decay in the earliest stages so that treatment is kept to a minimum.
Discussion of Your Needs & Issues
Then, after reviewing your records, I will discuss with you the best course of treatment for addressing any issues or help determine what your personal schedule of preventative care (checkups) should be.
The fees for any recommended treatment will be discussed, and financial arrangements can be made at this time that fits into your budget before your treatment is scheduled.
Our Promise to You
Dental treatment is an excellent investment in your health, and we are committed to providing the best possible dental care for your specific needs.
Great dental care comes from caring about you, your situation, and how we can best serve you, not simply recommending the latest high-tech procedure.
Please contact us with any questions or to schedule an appointment. We look forward to getting to know you and providing you with the best in dental care!
